Vang Vieng Laos

Vang Vieng is know as one of Asia’s biggest “Party towns” but there is more to this city than just tubing and partying.

In fact, Tubing is one of the most dangerous activities you can do in SE Asia and quite a few people have lost there life’s.

I have read quite a few articles and some are really scary. Get an idea of what could happen here: http://www.adventurouskate.com/vang-vieng-tubing-deaths-and-dangers/

There is a lot more to Vang Vieng than tubing and partying.

The number one reason i want to visit this city is the hot air ballooning. I have read a lot into it and while there a few bad reviews saying the views are not good enough and $80 is a rip off etc. it is over $300 to do it here, so $80 sounds pretty good to me!

Another is the beautiful blue lagoon and surrounding caves.

Sadly i have read some reviews that describe the lagoon as “spoilt” but i will most definitely give it a chance! Apparently everything costs money, entry fees, crossing the bridge and toilets. however this is something i expect when in Asia. From what i have read i would suggest going early in the day to beat the crowds.

Tham Nam water cave is high on my list for Vang Vieng. In the tour description they say you you pull yourself by rope in tubes through the cave. sounds pretty awesome to me!

Overall, Tubing isn’t so much the reason I am drawn to this town. However i will most likely give it a go, but will be careful!

Caves, waterfalls and natural swimming holes sounds pretty amazing to me!

Have you been to Vang Vieng? Any advise? Please comment below!

  1. I loved it there, so peaceful and gorgeous. The reputation is from when the river was like a mad rave, pure insanity with no rules. People kept dieing cause they were drunk, high, and many other things. We showed up after they cleaned it up, and found it wonderful. Sure the town is all about happy shakes, but the rock climbing was superb. We did not get to the lagoon, but it looks wonderful too.
I am sure you will love it there.

      1. It really was an incredibly peaceful float, nice an easy but with gorgeous Karst popping up every where. As long as you use common sense you got nothing to worry about. Zip lines and diving in not recommended at all.
